How to Install Your LazBlinds Cordless Cellular Shades in 5 Steps
Why Hire a Pro? You Can Do This Yourself!
Upgrading your home with LazBlinds Cordless Cellular Honeycomb Shades is one of the quickest ways to improve your room’s insulation, privacy, and style. But if the thought of picking up a drill makes you nervous, don’t worry.
We designed our shades for real people, not just professional contractors. Whether you are a seasoned DIYer or a first-timer, this guide will walk you through the process. With just a few simple tools, you can have your new custom-look blinds up in less than 15 minutes.

Part 1: What’s in the Box?
Before we start drilling, let’s make sure you have everything ready. Open your LazBlinds package and check for the following components (as shown in your instruction manual):
- Cellular Shades x1: The star of the show.
- Brackets x2: These hold the shade in place.
- Screws x4: For securing the brackets.
- Handle x1: To make lifting and lowering your cordless shades even easier.
- Installation Instruction x1: Your quick-reference sheet.
Tools You Will Need:
- Pencil (for marking)
- Tape Measure
- Power Drill with a standard bit
- Screwdriver
- Hammer (optional, for tapping in expansion tubes)
Part 2: The Golden Rule of Measuring
A perfect fit starts with understanding your window. Depending on the look you want, you can choose between an Inside Mount or an Outside Mount.
Option A: Inside Mount (Clean, Built-in Look)
This is installed inside the window frame.
- Width: Measure the width at the Top (W1), Middle (W2), and Bottom (W3). Important: Record the minimum of these three measurements.
- Depth: To install, your window frame needs a minimum depth of 1.2 inches. If you want the blind to sit completely flush with the wall (so it doesn’t stick out), you need a minimum depth of 2 inches.
Option B: Outside Mount (Covers the Frame)
This is installed on the wall above the frame or on the frame itself.
- Check Protrusion: If your window frame sticks out from the wall, ensure the protrusion is not more than 0.4 inches; otherwise, the shade might catch on the frame when lowering.
Part 3: Step-by-Step Installation
Ready? Let’s get these shades up.
Step 1: Measure and Mark
Hold your brackets up to the window frame (or wall) where you want them positioned. Use your pencil to mark the screw holes.
Tip: Ensure the brackets are aligned horizontally so your shade hangs level.
Step 2: Drill Holes
Remove the brackets and use your power drill to create pilot holes at the pencil marks you just made. This prevents the wood or drywall from cracking.
Step 3: Insert Expansion Tubes (Anchors)
If you are mounting into drywall (and not solid wood studs), insert the expansion tubes into the drilled holes. You may need to tap them gently with a hammer until they are flush with the wall.
Step 4: Install the Mount Brackets
- For Inside Mount: Screw the brackets into the top surface of your window frame.
- For Outside Mount: Screw the brackets into the wall or the face of the window molding. Secure them tightly with the provided screws.
Step 5: Click and Complete!
This is the satisfying part.
- Tilt the headrail of your Cellular Shade slightly.
- Hook the front of the rail onto the front lip of the bracket.
- Push the back of the rail upward until you hear a clear “Click!”
Snap on the handle (if desired), and give yourself a pat on the back. You’re done!
